The strawberry plan for a proper planting of the crop

Agriges News

In all those areas where the strawberry is intensively grown, the cases of reduction in production and poor quality of harvest, often generically attributed to phenomena of "soil fatigue", are particularly serious. Actually, the reasons that can explain the reduction in the production of strawberry fields are manifold and, of course, among them we must remember the presence of pathogenic fungi, weeds, insects, and parasitic nematodes harmful to the crop.

Fumigation is one of the possible interventions to mitigate the 'soil fatigue' problem: in fact, it enables the reduction of the inoculum potential of the main soil pathogens and pests, weed control and increased nitrogen availability due to the mineralisation of organic matter.

Soil disinfection and integrates alternative strategies

An estimate of the importance of soil fumigation in Italy was conducted thanks to a complex technical-economic study developed by Nomisma in 2008. This study analyzed the state of the global use of fumigants in Italy in the most intensive (monocultural) sectors of national horticulture, tracing out a series of possible scenarios with way of a simulation of the progressive unavailability of chemical fumigants. This study essentially confirmed the close dependence of intensive horticulture on the use of fumigants, foreseeing a significant contraction of the gross saleable production in the event of a total elimination of the use of these substances in the absence of an adequate substitution through alternative strategies or solutions.

Due to the above reasons, from a future perspective, it is essential to start working from today on alternative strategies to the use of these substances.

Agriges fertilization strategy

When preparing the soil, RYCYNEEM. revitalizing basal fertilizer for tired and impoverished soils, especially designed to increase their long-term fertility. It is a product based on precious raw materials of vegetable and animal origin. Activated by the following bacterial strainsThermoactinomyces spp., Streptomyces spp. and Bacillus spp., obtained through the exclusive MICROZYMTRIO production technology, are the ones responsible for guaranteeing the high and constant effectiveness of RYCYNEEM against soil fatigue.

Moreover, the product is enriched by the presence of highly micronized elemental sulfur that is the corrective par excellence of alkaline soils as, once distributed in the soil, it undergoes biochemical transformations, helping to rebalance the pH of the soil and improve its chemical and physical properties.

RYCYNEEM revives the soil, rebalances its microbial component and nourishes the plant with harmony.

Agriges recommends its application before solarization in order to maximize its effectiveness and improve the soil liveability.

In the final stage of solarisation, Agriges proposes the application, in fertigation, of a new product: Ryzoclean. This is a formulation based on plant extracts and characterised by a high content of organic acids and tannins that improve the physical, chemical and biological characteristics of the soil, making it more hospitable in the long term to plant development. The product formula was then enriched with inactivated yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, which has a strong resistance-inducing action.

From 3 to 5 days after Ryzoclean application, Agriges proposes DRAKS, an exclusive concentrate, in soluble powder, of bacteria (PGPR) and mycorrhizal fungi which, in a synergistic way, promote the growth of plants. These microorganisms interact with the young plant, providing it with growth-regulating substances which stimulate the development of root system and root hair.

The synergy between mycorrhizal fungi and bacteria (Azotobacter chrococcum LS132 and Azospirillum brasilense AGS608 *) optimises the plant's ability to absorb water and nutrients necessary for its development.
